
Heidi Watney was born May 19 1981. She is an American sportscaster. Her past experience in sportscasting includes roles at the University of San Diego, New England Sports Network (Boston), Time Warner Cable SportsNet (Los Angeles), and two stations in Fresno. Watney was a Clovis West High School student in Fresno. She competed in gymnastics, hurdles, and diving. [1] She was an National Merit Scholar and attended the University of San Diego on an academic scholarship. she graduated with distinction in 2003. Watney was the Miss California USA 2002 runner-up. Watney is the daughter of golf professional Nick Watney. [7] Andy Weir claimed that he made use of the surname Watney to create the character Mark Watney in his science fiction novel The Martian. This was following her name being mentioned on an Red Sox game broadcast. Watney was in the music video for Dropkick Murphys' "Going Out in Style" single.
